Panchanga

The panchanga screen gives the five limbs for any date — tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and vara — together with the full planetary positions behind them, and exports as a PDF. It is derived from the same planetary longitudes as your charts, so the calendar and the kundali never contradict each other.

The five limbs, and what each is

LimbWhat it measures
TithiThe lunar day — each 12° of angular distance the Moon gains on the Sun
NakshatraThe lunar mansion the Moon occupies — one of 27, each 13°20′
YogaDerived from the summed longitudes of the Sun and Moon — one of 27
KaranaHalf a tithi — 6° of Moon-minus-Sun elongation
VaraThe weekday, reckoned from sunrise rather than midnight

Because four of the five depend on the Sun–Moon relationship, they change at times of day that have nothing to do with the clock. A tithi can begin mid-afternoon and end the following morning — which is why a panchanga shows transition times rather than just a label for the day.

Why it agrees with your charts

Many setups read a panchanga from one source and cast charts in another program. When the two use different ayanamsha or different siddhanta, the nakshatra in the calendar can disagree with the nakshatra in the chart, and there is no way to tell which is wrong. In Jyotish Sarathi both come from the same computation under the settings you chose — see the methodology.

For Nepal: patro and Rahukaal

The Nepali patro view adds festivals, auspicious timings and Rahukaal on top of the panchanga, with Vikram Sambat dates. The guide to Nepali patro, tithi and Rahukaal explains how to read them together.
